Spectacular Sands
Being one of the most beautiful and unspoilt beaches in the UK, it’s no surprise that Holywell Bay beach was chosen as one of the filming locations for BBC’s hit show Poldark! Boasting stunning views as it’s natural backdrop, people flock to Holywell Bay to enjoy the sun, sand and surf – even the national surfing championships are held here in Cornwall!
With over a mile of golden sand to discover, there’s endless fun to be had. Attempt to catch some waves, build majestic sandcastles, paddle in rockpools, scale (or even surf!) the dunes and explore cavernous cliffsides if you dare – or you could just watch the world go by, surrounded by the sounds of gently rolling waves.
If beaches aren’t your thing, see what else there is to enjoy nearby!
Can't Stop the Waves
While you may not be up for competing in the national championships, that doesn’t mean you can’t give surfing a go!
One of the National Trust’s most picturesque beaches, Holywell Bay is the perfect place to learn, producing some of the best waves in the UK. And yet, the beach offers a family-friendly and tranquil vibe that some of the busier Cornwall beaches can’t offer – so you can have plenty of peace when learning to surf, without the crowds.
Not Just For Summer
No matter what season, Gull Rocks Beach has something to offer even the most reserved outdoorsmen.
In cooler times, you can enjoy bad weather with good times by storm watching from the protection of your porch or wrap up warm on autumn day and take a stroll in the crisp air to experience the freedom of the great outdoors.
In springtime, check out the budding flora and fauna along the South West Coast Path – and with plenty of walking trails and dog friendly beaches in Cornwall to explore, your four-legged friends don’t have to be left behind either!
